Patrick J. Ralph, an Englishman who came to America in 1971, has been in the construction field in the Northern Virginia area for over 40 years. He began his career as a carpenter/builder’s apprentice in 1971. He learned all aspects of building from ground clearing to final punch-out.
In 1973, Patrick moved to the Middleburg area to work with established builders, B. Hanback &Company and Boteler Builders. He also worked in a cabinet shop fabricating and installing display stands for the Smithsonian in preparation for the 1976 Bicentennial Exhibit.
Three years later, Patrick set up his own corporation, P. J. Ralph, Inc. During the eleven years he led his business, he provided general contracting services; projects included custom built single family dwellings, equestrian and agricultural buildings, light commercial buildings, residential additions, renovations and restorations.
In 1986, Mark Newland of Mark M. Newland & Company, hired Patrick as a general superintendent responsible for field operations. Projects included large and small alterations,remodeling and additions, solariums, garden pavilions, landscape structures. From 2001 to present,Patrick has been sole owner of Kingsdown LLC, a project management firm. He now offers general contracting support to owners who want to be actively involved in the building process, consulting on prospective building projects, estimating and design and drafting services.
